As there was no response to my offer to put all my Indian buttons in an album I am not starting said project.
Bundling unidentified buttons in a thread may be a better approach.

It's definitely Assam Rifles - post 1917 - the exact button is shown illustrated in the Gurkha Museum's booklet on the insignia of Frontier force and War raised units. Tim
