Default Help in dating and Authenticity of Para patch please

These items are outside of my collecting area so I would like to ask the Forum member's for their opinions.
Is this a period, WWII piece or is it of later issue? The original owner was in WWII but the piece could have been acquired at some later date, perhaps for commemorative purposes. Thanks in advance.

Looks like an original WW2 private purchase wing on the less common blue / black backing.
