Default RN COMMANDO S/T's ??

Hi Chaps

Is it possible that this pair of shoulder titles are original RN Commando S/T's, c. 1941-1942?

They look good to me - paste back, don't appear to glow under UV light - but, to be honest, I'm out of my depth with most cloth insignia.

Would appreciate any comments/opinions.

David

Look like regular shoulder titles to me worn on anything but navy uniform, i.e army type uniforms.

Hi Jim

Thanks for that. I was thinking in terms of the dark blue army style battle dress blouse which I think RN Commandos wore but quite possibly not exclusively.

Hi

Many thanks. Possibly RN Commandos but not necessarily so and could be post WW2.

Sounds good to me!

I have a blue lettering on white canvas background which says R.N. Commando. Not sure when it was worn. I'll try to post an image later.

Hi David

When I was trying to research the above titles I found some info on the "R.N. Commando" title.

Apparently, they wore "Royal Navy" titles for about a year (1941-1942) and the R.N. Commando title was adopted in 1942.

Obviously, as you can see from the above posts, my "Royal Navy" titles went on to have other uses.

If the above is wrong no doubt someone will put me right!

David

Exactly what I was issued with on joining CHOSC at HMS Heron prior to completing the AACC in 1987. Completely standard and relatively modern

These are good original war time manufactured examples - no question.

What would be different between 1980's issue and wartime issue? They look just like the ones I had.

Hi Michael

Many thanks for that, good news indeed!

I thought they were probably WW2 but I'm never really sure of my facts with cloth insignia!

Hi guys,

Re opening this thread as it's the closest one to the titles I found.
Many thread on the subjects. I read all the history badge titles of RN Commando.

Would like to have your opinions on those ones. (I already have the one from Mike B).
Could those have been worn before the apparition of the RN Commando title in one piece ? Or they have been put together in the same batch but have nothing to do with each other concerning the period of fabrication ?

Does the glue back indicated late WW2 (after D-Day) ?

I'm a bit concern about the weird N and MM threads at the back of the commando one.

Same I have seen version of the Royal Navy one, without link between front YA and AV.

Cheers
