Those are not the usual East Surrey collars and to be honest if I looked at the badge I would have said East Yorkshire regt but the collars are wrong for that as well.

Hello,

It looks like he is wearing the ribbons of the DCM, 1914 or 15 Star, War Medal & Victory Medal.

regards

Then he is wearing the Bermondsey battalion collars shown here:

https://www.the-saleroom.com/en-gb/a...7-a59b00dc3471

Formed in May 1915 and were in France from 1916 onwards.

The fact that he is wearing those medal ribbons would date in after the war.

No 1914/15 Star as the Bn were not in France in time for him to qualify.

I wonder what his medal ribbons are as he should have had 2 for WW1 service so he must have had previous service.

Assuming that he served in South Africa with the East Surrey Regiment, this might be his QSA medal Roll entry.

Alan,
I thought I recognised the photo- the knowing look! I note that you have previously obtained all the above info from the GreatWarForum over the past 7 years or so.
It would save time if you told us all that you know! We are delighted to help but no point going back over old ground?
Charlie
