Default Has anyone seen this symbol on a helmet before?

Hi all

I've come across this symbol on a helmet - does anyone know if

A) its ww2 or postwar (police, etc...)

B) if it is German or from another nation.

I've included the makers mark of the helmet in case this helps (although the photo is unclear).

Thanks

Great, thanks a lot.

Any idea on the stamps, I'm struggling making them out and can't see any of the common makers letters.

Thanks again.

Is there "1?402" in amongst the markings?
Looks like the helmet's corroded and been given a thick layer of paint over the rust or pitting.

Yeah I thought it looked painted over which makes me question if the OT has been added.

Thanks

OT stencils are available online for 4 or 5 euros.
I don't know enough about the OT to tell good from bad in terms of the stencils.
An article on German Helmets.com states that there is no wartime photographic evidence of the OT using stencilled insignia or decals on the helmet but that helmet's displaying them exist.
If a pitted (inside and out) helmet has a thick layer of paint over it then presumably the paint is "fake" and so is the insignia.
