Default 9th Lancers

Hi Guys,

Could I please seek opinions on this authenticity of this 9th Lancers badge I was recently given?

Mick

Looks good to me, Mick. Pre- 1952 King's crown. Unless the real experts on here say different I'd treat it as such.

Default 9th

Hi Mick The 9th is one of those badges very difficult to judge my only bench mark is the crown the badge you show seems to have the smaller crown which would indicate a repo.

Best Mac

A much faked badge. If it was mine I would replace it with a crisper reverse strike. The lettering is very poor on the back.

Not a very good strike if it is original, but, a very common badge, so easy to get a better example, I would not be very happy with it anyway.

A very common badge, just go for a well struck example, sharp definition on the reverse and less of the awful almost "molten" metal look, lots of original examples to be had for pennies!
