Default Badge ID please

This one looks like a cap badge for the Buffs but has no motto. It is brass with a lug and pin attachment and roughly 2 1/2" square.

I think it is a fantasy design based on a buckle plate for the Monmouthshire regiment. There are threads about it. It was sold in the regimental museum/shop.
