Default RNAS

Hi Gent's.
Didn't know if this was the right category, but I wanted to ask. I believe this to be an original as it us in a legitimate well respected auction house here in the states. My question is, what sort of value would you apply. This'll make it easier for me to bid and how far to go. It comes with a large amount of RAF, RFC etc badges. But I thought this RNAS was the most interesting
Sorry about the pic, it came of the viewing pics and they are not that big.

Thanks

Simon.

Thanks PAJ, have to see where the bidding goes on this. It does have, as I said 8-9 RAF, and RFC cap badges with come cloth RFC also. I'll post it if I get it to see if I got a bargain.

thanks again

Simon.

Simon

It may just be the quality of the picture but I don't like the RNAS badge for the following reasons:

It looks too dark (almost black as opposed to chocolate brown).
The RNAS lettering looks like the skinny type lettering usually found on the fakes.
The R of RNAS looks too close to the top left hand corner of the turret.
The dimpling effect on the badge looks too new/rough and not like the smoother, more worn like appearance on the genuine badges.

If you could get a better quality picture of the badge it would help.

I have attached a picture of what I believe to be a genuine RNAS badge.

Paddy

Default Auction lot

I also would be very wary of the badge due to the large amount of fakes on offer. Additionally, the cloth badges shown are also all repros. Some of the metal badges do appear to be sound but, overall I would not bid a great deal for this lot.

Thanks Dragon and Paddy. I really appreciate your tips. I think based on your advice I'm going to take a pass. I don't mind buying large lots to get the one or two good one's. But if there's doubt from the team on here I go with that.
I have asked for a close up pic of the RNAS, I'll post it if it gets here before the bidding starts.

thanks again

Many regards from the Brit in the colonies

Simon,
Paddy has got it right .
This badge is not good, for all the reasons that he has mentioned.
Steer clear !
Cheers !
