Royal or Merchant Navy?
Hello, I have two badges here that I’m looking to identify and move on. I believe is Royal Navy, and suspect the other is either Merchant Navy or perhaps has an Australian connection with the rising sun? Any help much appreciated!

I think the top one is an older variation of a junior Deck Officer of the Merchant Navy P&O line.
