Rifle Brigade Unknown Flash
Just sorting through some odd pics. There are a number of snaps relating to an officer who appears to be RB, rank is Lt/Col or Col so maybe attached. Pics are taken in Italy 1944/45 and in one pic he has an odd patch visible on his sleeve but so far not been able to make it out. Any ideas?

Hi.
It looks like a Shamrock to me, could it be 38 (Irish) Brigade? Attached to 6th Armoured Division in 1942, then the 78th Infantry Division in 1943 and fought in Tunisia, Sicily and Italy. The only Rifle Regiment in the Brigade (according to what info I have) was 2nd Battalion the London Irish Rifles. George. |

Hi,
It does not look like 38 Irish Brigade's shamrock. To me it looks more like a flaming grenade. Eddie |
