CSM John William Crewe Ox & Bucks Company?
Hi,
I have this AB64 Paybook for CSM Crewe. He was KIA on 19 June 44 in Normandy. Although he is listed as a KIA I can't find his company listed anywhere. He as an old timer, a member of the 52nd Light Infantry. Does anyone has a roster of the battalion and tell me what company he wass assigned to? Thank you. |

It seems his name may have been misspelt on occasion, this is on fallen heroes of Normandy.
Forum member Lightbobs may be able to help with any nominal rolls. He has a website of the same name Paul |

Hi. Yes his name was spelled Crew and Crewe. I think they made a mistake when he was buried. I checked Lightbobs and all of the other associated websites. Nothing there about his unit. The war diary does not have his name either, but does list some of the other men killed about the same time. I think he was a victim of a mortar attack. Most of the CSMs were killed in Normandy. I was hoping someone on this forum would have access to some of the muster rolls. Thank you.

WO2 Crewe was the CSM of Letter H Company, the "Heavy" Weapons Company viz 6 pounder Anti tank Guns and MMGs.

Has anyone ever see a complete Order of Battle (OOB) for 2nd Battalion Ox and Bucks on D-Day/ Normandy? Not just B and D Companies? Thank you.
