Difficult in shades of grey, but could be 40th Bn AIF, 3rd Australian Division.(white over red oval). But Australian members will know. Mike

Mike's probably got it, 40 Bn white/red, or 36 Bn white/dark green. Taken in England 1916 or soon after arrival in France 1917 by the manner in which the left side of the hat is being worn down. Oval shape and hat are indicators of 3 Aust Div for that period.
