I know that you are a new member, so don't take this the wrong way, but we really need to see both sides of a badge, most of the tell tale bits and in this case the silver marks are on the back, so could we please have a look at the back. If the badge has Silver written on the back of the 9 in a vertical format, I have one like it. I hope that this helps. Regards Phil. |

Hi. I have put a photo of the rear badge on the site at the same time of the front of the badge i do not know why it is not showing. I am 99% sure that the badge is genuine but i need to be 100% sure before i offer it for sale Micky007

I don't know so couldn't say but from all I've read here on the Forum, and there have been quite a few topics about this over the years, I would be suspicious of any badge which only has 'SILVER' on it. Usually either sterling or a hallmark.

Sorry I cant help - but the reverse of the image you posted appears in the actual text of the first posting for me. I've attached 2 screen shots - the first is of the badge in the post i see, the second is an enlarged image of the reverse of the badge.
Not sure if it helps, but I always attach images to posts using the "attachments" option (so clicking on the paperclip) as opposed to the "insert image" option. |

Thanks Ive now got the photo of the rear, I have now got my Silver 9th Lancers badge out and its a QVC not a KC. Mine has silver in capitols stamped into the left, long side of the nine. I have had this badge for many years.Mine appears to be Ok and Id say the same for yours. Mine has 4 lugs and a strengthening bar across the base of the crown where it joins the lances. I think that yours is Ok but please don't ask me to say that Im 100% about either badge. I hope that this helps. Regards Phil. |

Iffy badge
Hi. Many thanks for your input. A dealer friend who for the last forty or so years has bought sold and collected all things militaria mainly items of French and English world war one vintage had a look at the badge and told me that it was definitely genuine. He also added that it could also be an officers collar because the collars and the cap badge of the ninth Lancers are both the same size. So now i am a lot happier than i was. Best Regards Micky007

G'day Micky
That's all good except the officers OSD Bz badge is about 50 mm across the bottom scroll and 40mm from the top of the crown and the bottom centre of the scroll where as collar badges are about 38 mm across the scroll and 30mm high and have 4 lugs. So lets say yours is an officers cap badge, and not a collar. Regards Phil. |

Hi Micky, again
In the above post the 9th Lancers collar badge was a white metal one, I have now found my OSD Bronze officers collars, they are 38mm across the scroll and 29.5mm top to bottom and are die cast and have flat backs, and I have just realised that they are not a matched pair as one has 3 lugs and the other has 2 lugs. The ODS cap badge is also die cast but does not have a flat back and has 3 lugs. I hope that this helps. Regards Phil. |

I am surprised how much one can learn being a member of this Forum. There are so many members with such a depth of knowledge that it is mind boggling. Micky007
