Default South Staffs collars

An eBay listing for 'anodised South Staffordshire Regt collars'

They are indeed anodised alluminium, but appear to be two cut down South Staffs anodised cap badges. The slider has been cut down and filed to create an east/west lug and then a hole drilled through it.

The butchering of two nice anodised cap badges to create an abhoration. Shame. Hopefully nobody here will be fooled by this 'rarity'.

Regards all

Bess

The label is incorrect. The badges are North Staffs. There is no mention of an anodised N.Staffs collar in any of the reference books. I dont think theres a pattern of N.Staffs collar thats the same as these gap fillers.

Why they have been listed as S.Staffs i dont know. I think i know the guy who'se listed them. Unusual for him to make an error like that.
S.Staffs are a plain knot. The anodised version is listed in Gaylors ref as for the 5/6th Btn.
