And another Canadian wing
Hello, I'd appreciate your feedback on the originality and era of this wing.
Best regards, Donovan

Unlike any war-time variant I've seen Donovan. The construction looks good, but the thick 'risers' from the canopy put me off.

Looks to be a British made variant.

It looks like the wing identified as PP1 in Ken Joyce's Jump Wings. It is reported to be a private purchase Cdn made wing.

Thanks Paul and Mike, I have similar thoughts —construction looks good to me, like UK-made insignia, but I haven’t seen one like it (I’m not an expert on Canadian para wings). I compared it to the wings shown in Ken Joyce’s excellent book “Into the Maelstrom,” and to my untrained eye it seems closest to the Type 3 wing made in the UK in 1943 by various manufacturers, on order from the Canadian defense ministry.
Best regards, Donovan

Thanks Bill, you and I were posting replies at the same time. Appreciate your input, you know this area of collecting quite well. I don’t have a copy of the book you reference, but have ordered it now.
Best regards, Donovan

An update on this wing: I've learned it came from a Force veteran, Sergeant Clarence M. (Clary) Sample, of Stellarton, Nova Scotia. He served in 3-3 FSSF.
Regards, Donovan

Thanks for the update Donovan. That is interesting, as he must have acquired the wing at some later date. The FSSF were only authorized to wear the US parachute wing, though some Canadians acquired Cdn wings when on leave or had qualified at Benning and then transferred to the FSSF.
