King Edward's Horse
Confusion reigns in my mind:
I see KK describes the inscription as: Regi Adsumas Coloni and the "incorrect spelling" badge as: Regi Ausumas Coloni but I see many examples as such: Regi Adsumus Coloni incorrect spelling badge as: Regi Ausumus Coloni so, is the second last letter "a" or "u"? or are all 4 correct?? Could a forum expert please point me in the right direction? Many thanks. Tim |

I have 3 different KEH badges the one in KK 1506,1507 and 1509. I believe there is a typo with regard to 1506 as looking at the badge the spelling is Adsumus and not Adsumas. The incorrect spelling on badge 1508 is right as far as I know, yet to see one in the flesh. All the best Malc

Hi Tim and Malc,
I have the AUSUMUS spelling on a white metal badge but it is a well known fake. Cheers, Tinto |

The Latin word Adsumus is translated to English as 'Here we are' and is also the motto of the Brazilian Marine Corps. Adsumus is the spelling to look for on KEH badges. However, there were a limited (unknown) number of misspelled badges issued bearing the word 'Ausumus'. See attached photos.

Great info All, thanks very much. So it looks like there was a typo in K&K, and Adsumus is the correct spelling, and the miss-spelt badges are Ausumus.
Many thanks, another example of the Forum's value. Cheers, Tim |
