Africa & Italy Stars to Royal Navy ??
I've got a nice WW2 medal lot to an ex-R.N. man....
39/45 Star / Atlantic Star (Fra./Ger. clasp) / Africa Star / Italy Star / 39/45 Medal. What kind of role would he have been in to get the Africa & Italy Stars ?? |

My grandfather was a dental officer in the RNVR during the Second World War. He was stationed in Freetown, Sierra Leone and received an Africa Star. His brother-in-law was a coder in the RN and served on HMS Bulolo in the Mediterranean (he received an MID for Anzio) and received the Italy Star. I hope that helps. Phil

Likewise. Partner's father was on North African soil ashore and ASW patrols for the Africa Star and his ship supported the landings in Sicily and later Anzio for the Italy Star.

I think there's something on the MoD's website relating to medals and the criteria for each service getting one, which should explainit.
