Default Identify badge please
I was sent this photo and asked to ID the insignia. It does not ring a blee with me at all. I suspect possible British? Any further information would be most appreciated as well.

My guess would be Indian Army, could be way out the ball park, though.

Hi

I'm guessing Irish Army, his collar badges look like Irish Defence Force Engineer badges, but thats is a guess.

Using the suggestion of Irish Corps of Engineers. I have to agree, this is the badge in the photo. Many thanks all. I had no idea where to look other than painstakingly going over every image I could find online to try and determine what it was.

Spot on - Irish Defence Forces, Corps of Engineers. Given the fact that he is wearing the side cap then it is almost certainly dated c. 1934 - c. 1948.

Insignia convention was (and still is), National cap badge and corps collar badge. Unit level shoulder insignia (called flashes) only came about from the 1960's for regular units, so it is not possible to tell from this photo what unit he is in. It could be any one of the following;

1st Field Engineer Coy.
2nd Field Engineer Coy.
3rd Field Engineer Coy.
4th Field Engineer Coy.
6th Field Engineer Coy.
7th Field Engineer Coy.
8th Field Engineer Coy.
9th Field Engineer Coy.
1st Maintenance Eng. Coy.
2nd Maintenance Eng. Coy.
3rd Maintenance Eng. Coy.
4th Maintenance Eng. Coy
Coast Defence Engineer Coy.
General Reserve, Curragh Camp Secn Eng.
HQ, Depot & School Army Corps of Engineers
Survey Company. Corps of Engineers
