Hi Bill, What are your thoughts on this RCMP shoulder flash? Repro? |

Hi Ron, That title has characteristics of an authentic example. The embroidery is a bit uneven, but not enough to inidicate a repro. I think it is okay.

Thanks for the information. Do you think it is post war? Or what era do to think?

These titles were only authorized for No 1 Provost Coy, so wartime would be the time period.

Thanks for confirming. Would I be correct in saying I see more printed and English made course weave variations of the WWII RCMP flash than this one?

Hi Ron, The first issue No 1 Provost Coy titles were the RCMP abbreviated pattern. One issue of these was made prior to the Coy going overseas. The first fully spelled out issue was acquired in the UK, but a subsequent order was contracted in Canada in 1942.

Thanks again Bill for clarifing things. Do you think the flash I posted at the start of this thread is the Canadian made 1942 version?
below is a great link to the on line RCMP museum. They do not show that version. http://mpmuseum.org/index3.html |

Hi Ron, There were a couple of runs of titles made in Canada, so it is possible that there are varieties of the Canadian made pattern.
