Default LAMBOURNE'S GLAMORGAN YEOMANRY

This is the Glamorgan Yeomanry cap badge with the blank central scroll. It is marked Lambourne and is different from the version with the diamond on the central scroll in that the end of the scrolls sit separate from the PofW feather white metal scroll.

Does any one have the blank central scroll without this design of feathers and scroll? Was Lambourne the only make of the blank scroll version or was there another maker?

Default GLAMORGAN YEOMANRY

Alan, I have one of these without the diamond with I think a blank slider, I'm not sure if the scroll is the same as yours.

So far I've only ever seen the fully blank central scroll on Lambourne produced badges. Some others appear almost blank but you can usually just make out the ghost of the erased "Imperial" behind.

Alan,
I have a Glam Yeo badge which I think is not a Lambourne item, although it has been suggested that it could be a NCO's sleeve badge (?) as the plumes are much fuller. I'm not 100% certain yet that it is a sleeve badge as the lug positioning is the same as the lugged IY examples, so it could be a makers variation of the cap badge? Both Lambourne examples I have, have the blank scroll, but differing coronets and sliders.

Best Regards

Andy

Andy,
I believe that these larger badges have something to do with senior NCOs, but I have no evidence to show they worn as arm badges yet. I have one as shown below but this is the later pattern. I have seen another that was with family items and complete with his sergeants stripes and the badge mounted above on a piece of khaki cloth. However, I have still not seen a photo of them being worn.
Hwyl,
Kevin

Kevin.

Have seen the collar dog dragon worn above the stripes.

Photo in the album shows it being worn.

Hi Jonathan,
Great photo but a shame we can't see the sergeant's right arm. It is the senior NCOs that I believe may have worn the larger pattern, however as stated below I have no hard evidence yet.

Kevin

Kevin.

I'll check out his other photo's as he has some more in his cupboard, trying to get them all together, gonna also get him to write down what he has on the Glam Yeo, stories of the cavalry charge, shooting the horses after it (Colt 45 being useless as wouldn't go through the skull, Webley one shot), going to France.

Got the Glam Yeo book on order so have to see what he thinks of that.

Did you buy that Welch Volunteers button with Cardiff maker mark on E:bay the other week.

No I had what I thought was a solid punt but it went for more than I put on it. Picked up a good 7 bar QSA to the Welsh recently though.let me know what you think on that Glam Yeo book when it arrives.
Hwyl,
Kevin
