I think that looks ok. Probably fine for that glengarry.

As also mentioned above the smaller badges also come converted to sliders, probably for FSH wear. does anyone have the larger pattern that has the applied strengthening?

I have one of the smaller badges which has had screw posts fitted E-W. I think they are old as the thread and nuts are not found these days. My large version is very nice and strong, no strengtheners but solid lugs and unlikely to break easily where the mullet join the scroll. Possibly a restrike but then one of the better ones I've seen...

Yes, the Cameron's badge would go well with the cap. The plain blue cap was especially associated with the Cameron's, even though the Black Watch wore it too.

Hi Guys,

Here is what appears to be a modern made Cameronian Piper's badge.

Size is 84mm across by 60mm high.

My theory is that the badge was sourced by the 52nd Lowland Regiment for use possible up to the late 1997's as per the modern 'New Metal' item which was the authorised badge for Officers, Warrant Officers and Sergeants for the Cameronian (Scottish Rifles) Companies of 52nd Lowland (V).

However, my theory may be quite wrong in that the badge shown is a know modern fake and also that there would not be a need for such a badge post 1993 (when the cap badge specification changed) due to absence of pipers (regiment disbanded in 1968) or that a good supply of existing stock still remained.

Any information gratefully received.

Regards,

Chris

A Cameronian with FSH and a thread discussing same:

The helmet is an interesting variation on the norm.

I removed the Camerononians badge from the glengarry (I show its back) and put the Cameron instead, as you advised it.

The badge mentioned in dress regulations is indeed officers' pattern (Mullet and title scroll in silver) Claire, it just so happens that the other ranks wore the same sized badge, but in inferior metal, as a standard size for the 'pagri'/'puggaree' badge (for foreign service helmet), as shown in the photo posted above. The larger, piper's badge, was worn in the glengarry. Both badges would have been made in relatively small numbers, but the piper's variant significantly less, for obvious reasons.

That looks both, good and correct.
