Default WW2 Para wings with metal backing plate

Good morning

I recently Aquired these, My knowledge of Wings is sparse so was wondering if anyone could shed any light on them.

They were from an estate sale in North East Scotland,

I will try and add a photo once I see the thread running.

Chris

I'm not an authority but it looks like you have an authentic WW2 era paratrooper wing which is theater made (in country made) in what the British refer to as their Far East Command and the US refers to as the China Burma India Theater. My understanding concerning the attached pin backing plate was so the paratroop wing could be removed and not damaged during laundering. The laundering technique used during this time period involved washing by hand along a creek and repeated pounding on a rock which destroyed insignia. The color is correct for British or other Commonwealth Countries paratrooper insignia being light blue wings and white (bullion) chute. My understanding is that the dark background color is unique to the Far East Command. I don't think that you can identify which specific unit wore this paratrooper wing due to all of the variations that have surfaced over the years in collections from this area. The thick rope like threading along the wings you see a lot on paratrooper wings worn by the 44th Indian Airborne Parachute Regiment but so did other paratrooper units operating in the Far East Command.
