Somewhere there,s an excellent thread called "WO1 Rank Badges - Border Colours Help Needed" in which all the regimental backings colours and NATO Stock Numbers of WO1 badges are discussed in detail by myself and 54 Bty. The search function should assist. It explains how many different colours and shades eg of green are used, which units use silver thread or gold thread etc. The majority of regimental rank badges of the 70's and 80's are explained. Eg; The green on brown and gold on brown are Women's Royal Army Corps or WRAC, which was disbanded in about 1994.

You may get better results if you produce an album of your unknown badges, with an image of each one, or at least number the badges in a multi image post.

Hi Laurent .1st image .Gold on white is 13/18 Hussars or 17/21Lancers or Queens Royal Lancers.
2nd image green on brown is WRAC as Ian said. Black on red is 2nd Goorkha Rifles or army apprentice college rank badge. Both now defunct. |
