Pte Norman Nathaniel Wallace Wells
Was shown this impressive South Africa, Afghanistan, WWI framed medal group in the pub last night.
Apologies for poor Iphone image, but am wondering if anyone knows of any further info about Private Norman Nathaniel Wallace Wells, who appears to have served in the 6th Inniskilling Dragoons? Many thanks for any info. All the best to all William |

It might be the light, but to me the rims look like they've been worn down. Re-named. If not, its a nice group.

William,
A search of military records on Ancestry does not produce any immediate matches. Can you please say what the inscriptions on the medals are ? P.B.

The only N Wells who served with the 6th Inniskilling Dragoons that I can find does not appear to have served in Afghanistan and forfeited his QSA and KSA. No trace of Great War service either. It would be interesting to know what is impressed on the medal rims.

I knew that you could forfeit a gallantry medal for a later crime but why would you forfeit a campaign medal? Sorry if that is a basic question but I am not a medal buff.

All very interesting; many thanks Gentlemen.
If I can get another look at the medals, I will try to get more info. Though am not sure how to tell this very nice retired couple that their ancestor may not be all they think he is! Cheers William |
