Default Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment

Hi

A couple of questions,

1. Did OR's wear and anodised Queens Regt collar badge on No1 Dress or was it bright metal from the beginning?

2. The Regts TRF is the navy/yellow/navy horizontal striped flash, but I have a yellow/navy diagonal flash which I have had some time which I was told was worn by the battalion when it was the Infantry element of 5 Airborne Brigade. Is this correct?

Cheers
Sean

in reply to No1,
Most images show what appears to be the anodised collar. If you recall, the majority of the Regt would have already had them as they were Queens. Personally id say it was most likely,i cant find my JSP download at the moment .

No.2
I think the diagonal was worn when they served in 5 brigade.

If I remember correctly it was the 1st Battalion that served in the Airborne role. Either way, yes they were worn.

KR,

Pete.

Default PWRR - TRF and DZ flash

Sean,
if it is of interest to you, from my notes I believe:-

1992 - 95

1st Bn PWRR wore the horizontal blue and yellow TRF (they also wore a small oblong piece of the ribbon as per the cap badge backing during this period as a TRF too)

2nd Bn wore the diagonal DZ flash during this period whilst attached to 5th Airborne Bde.

1995 -

1st Bn took over from 2nd Bn and wore the DZ flash (at least until 1999 when 5th Bde ended)

2nd Bn wore the TRF.

Note -
The brochure for the launch of 16 Air Assault Bde on 3rd Sept 1999 (successor to 5th Airborne Bde) shows the diagonal flash on its orbat and is shown as '3rd infantry Bn', so presumably they served in 16 Air Assault Bde for a short period too.

Am always happy to be corrected on any of the above.

Regards all

Bess
