Default What are these 2 lanyards for and what period??

Hello all
I was given these 2 lanyards and am wondering what period are these and what were there use :
Leather one maybe trench whistle ?
Red one for a bugle ?

Hi Jack,

Leather one was almost certainly a whistle lanyard, could have been officer or other rank, and have a photo of a Great War AIF artillery sergeant wearing a leather one identical to yours.

Sorry, it's in .pdf and whatever I do I can't get it to attach, but it's identical anyway.

Red one I can't help with but it looks French or US.

The other lanyard was on a bugle but i dont think it is original.
