Cambrian Patrol medallion (Welsh Cadets ? )
I acquired this attractive heavy white metal medallion this morning. On the front is says "CAMBRIAN PATROL" on a circle with green enamelling. In the centre these are two soldiers patrolling.
On the Reverse there is the outline of a map of Wales and the word "Cadet " and the 53rd Welsh Division sign. I presume the Cambrian Patrol was some sort of competition for Cadets. Does anyone know anything about the Cambrian Patrol and was this a medallion for one of the winners or do all participants get one for completing the patrol ? Thanks P.B.

Peter,
to add to Alan's link, the Cambrian Patrol is still pretty much up and running and gets bigger every year, the next one is in October. Patrols are awarded a certificate if they complete the event, medals are only awarded to those who excel, Bronze, Silver and Gold depending on their overall performance! The device to the rear is that now worn by 160 (Wales) Brigade! Andy |
