Arrow St. Dunstans button hole badges

Not sure these are in the correct location and not strictly military, but of interest to me as medical/nursing related. The St.Dunstans blind soldiers association was founded in 1915 by Sir Arthur Pearson to assist soldiers blinded by war.

More information can be found via the following links:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blind_Veterans_UK

http://www.worldwar1postcards.com/dunstans.php

The badge with damaged enamel appears to be older and has a registered mark on the button loop (REG636232).

Regards
Steven

A lot of these badges appeared on the market a few years ago. I think that someone unearthed a box of them.

Default Blind Veterans

Hi Steven,
My son's School, The Royal School for the Blind Wavertree Liverpool also provided assistance to blind veterans on return from the Great War, I may be able to get some information if you wish.
Also at Dunham Massey Hall in Cheshire they are reconverting part of the property as a WW1 Hospital ward (Stamford Military Hospital as it was known) this may be open for some time if you ever get to the UK but probably worth a search online. I am hoping to get down there some time in the summer myself.
Regards
Paul

Wow, some good and speedy responses. Thanks for the information. We have a branch of St. Dunstans here in Cape Town as well for blinded soldiers and I am sure there are probably more in other parts of South Africa.

Paul, I will look into the Dunham Massey hall, sounds interesting.

Regards
Steven
