Default New FPGRM

Has the change of title already taken place and if/when it changes will there be a new formation sign?

I know a Stripey in FPG and have asked him to try and blag some if they issue a new pattern - and to see if he can track down any 1st pattern ones up there in the wet & windy North

Trouble is he is due to be posted in next month or so and is currently away on an exercise abroad, so I may be a bit late for him to have any success.

If I do get any joy I'll let you guys know

Ray

Now that 43 Commando FP Gp RM, now comes under 3 Commando Brigade
they may revert to their TRF which is the fighting knife.
Also my son in law was with Fleet Protection Group RM, when they got their first TRF to wear and what they were issued with is what being called 2nd pattern. 1st pattern I was told was just a rejected design.

The 1st pattern was worn by a very few soldiers as they were 'lost' in a locker in RHQ.

Subdued, Sealed 16th January 2002. Pattern number: 29432.
NSN CB 8455-99-252-1618.
Declared obsolete in 2004.

Default Intentionally?

If Royal had anything to do with it they probably didn't like the original patch and arranged for it to be 'lost'

Link attached below to RM badges website and in particular the RMRO authorising the FPGRM formation badge. I have also attached a pic below of the latest badge (post renaming to 43 Cdo FPGRM) which I obtained from a mate last month who is currently serving with FPGRM. This is the only style they have in stores as they no longer provide the brown and khaki desert version.

Marc/ Paddy
A good bit of information there.
2002 was a bit early for my son in law he was in the unit in 2004 and thought the 2nd pattern was a first issue as he was wearing nothing before.
He had never seen a first pattern and someone in the FPGP sent my friend a first pattern badge with it was a rejected design but didn't state it was issued at one time and worn.

Default FPGRM

For completeness, an illustration (I do not have an actual example) of the "1st Pattern" FPGRM TRF

Good information. Watch your front for imitations of this hard to find badge which was declared obsolete in 2004.
