Default Recent WW2 RAF wing for the collection

Have not run across many wings recently so was glad to add this to the collection. Nicely padded and appears to have not been sewn to a uniform. Padded wings seem to be bringing more than their un-padded brothers as of late. Not exactly sure why that is.

Thanks
Jack

Very nice and getting ever more expensive these days, I suppose they seem a little more substantial when compared to the "flat" examples.

Thanks Frank, one might guess that the three dimensional quality of padded wings appeals more to one’s eye.

Yes, I think they are, I am not a wing collector, but, as a boy I certainly was a most avid one.
I always liked them, attached is a trio of half size miniatures worn by members of our allies as well as some others.
The top wing, hacked off a rankers tunic, simply gives you an idea of size, the example in the middle is a basic "flat" thing from the Sikorski institute, so perfectly original, but, absolutely no history whatsoever.
The lower two are "padded" example, both well used, the example on the left was given to me, as a boy, by a friend of my father, who was a founder member of the PFT and one which I treasure, even today, years down the line above all others.

Wonderful group of wings. The memory of how you received them in my opinion adds to their appeal. The fact that you have been able to hang on to the wing from your childhood through to adulthood is impressive.
Best
Jack

LOL, I think I did pretty well as a boy, lots of RAF, Commonwealth and Allies still around and a great many looked favourably on an "interested " schoolboy, but, I have to admit, just a few years down the line, as an adult, I went to extreme lengths to talk to as many as I could before it became all too late in the day.
Just keep on what you are doing and above all, enjoy it, original brevets are nice things to collect.
