Default Unknown Cadet Force Shooting Badge

Anyone got any ideas on this one ?
Looks like a standard ACF/CCF 1st class shot badge for the .22 rifle, dating anywhere from 1940s to 1970s but why the red star ??
Any help appreciated .
Thanks in advance.

These badges have always been a mystery to me. When I was in the ACF we all wore Khaki badges for marksmanship with the Full Bore .303 Rifle. In one of the other detachments they wore a Red badge for marksmanship with the .22 Rifle. So going on that maybe a Detachment indicating the use of a Full Bore Rifle with a sub calibre .22 conversion kit.
