Default Bays Queen's crown

Any views on this badge, please? It's super-thick and impossible to bend, it has a strengthening bar behind the crown, but the crown is a bit odd.

These have started turning up over the last few years, but, I believe that they are of recent manufacture, if they are simply copies, that have been made as Victorian badges, clearly, they will fool no one, originals are finely die stuck rather than crudely cast, when I collected as a boy, originals turned up in South Africa a lot, in considerable quantities, but, these things never did.

I would say they are quite crude, but, it is the evidence that they were actually worn by members of the regiment that is needed, it is clearly, in my opinion, at least, not a normal looking St Edwards crown.

They are post 1953. However there is no crisp detail on the front at all, the back is worse. I don't believe its an issued item. IMHO

I haven't handled those ...I'm saying that the one I have is of quality..........
I'm not in any way saying that the badges pictured are not fakes....I'm saying that the one I have is a good quality badge......
And I did serve in the Bays over 70 years ago...
and no, I don't know how long I've had it........
and I did collect my first badges before WW2.
Have a look at the other thread on the Cavalry,Yeomanry , RAC slot..
And see other comments from owners of the badge.
I have my own opinion of them but I'd like others, who have actually got or handled them to give their opinions.
PS. The first thread on this type badge was 2013 in the cavalry section.

I have had a quick look at that thread, I'm sorry but i still don't think the quality is there. Especially for the Calvary.

I agree with Frank and Andy. The badge may well be thick and impossible to bend but in my view that doesn’t mean quality.

All the badges appear to have very poor reverse detail. From the front the laurel leaves are so poorly struck most look more like ferns or rose leaves.

In my opinion for what it’s worth, nothing about it says quality to me, and, it isn’t what I’d expect from a genuine Victoria or even modern Elizabethan era badge. The slider also looks very modern too IMO.

What size is the badge? I wonder if it’s been made by a die taken from a poor casting.

Happy Christmas to all,

Luke
