The 2nd/10th Dragoons officers is a real beauty.
What did the 22nd Sask Light Horse use as a cap badge? |

Hi Mike. To answer your question many of the pre-1914 cavalry units wore collar badges interchangeabley as cap badges. (With the appropriate side if the collars had two orientations.)

Thanks Jack. Another couple of interesting boards of badges. The person who assembled them must have been using an older reference for the organization. Some of the regiments listed as armoured were converted to infantry circa 1965. (This included the Algonquin Regt and Grey & Simcoe Foresters) The Prince of Wales Rangers were not an armoured regiment. (They were an MG battalion during SWW and converted to HAA after the war.)
The title for 12é Regt Blindé is a pattern issued in the 1980's. Prior it was Le Regt Trois Rivieres. They used 12é as that number perpetuated the 12th Armoured Regt (Three Rivers Regt) of the SWW. It was the same as Le Regt Trois Rivieres. The 7/11th Hussars were amalgamated with the Sherbrooke Regt (cloth title not shown on the boards) to form the Sherbrooke Hussars. In the first board, could you image the back of the Armd Carrier Regt / Canada cloth title on the right as viewed?

Thanks Bill, let me work on getting it off the board and will photograph. Much appreciate the information and corrections. Very probable that an outdated reference was used. Not sure in what order these were assembled. All at once or over time as pieces were acquired.

Thought I would remove some of the metal badges for better pictures. The cloth titles are bit more difficult. However it is do-able. All comments much appreciated. Jack.

Nice images. The badges appear to be gilt plated?

Bill, was that a standard type badge finish for the era? I have heard the term gilt finish before. These would be considered for other ranks I assume.?

Jack, I think the camera image makes them look plated. The standard finish was a bright brass.

Bill, yes they are a bit flashy in the picture than when seen in person. I would agree with bright brass. Thanks

The ALH collars always seem to be hard to find, the shoulder title seems to be more prevalent.

Yes, that is one of the early melton titles. The previous ones had been a Brabant pattern, and was really the only one worn during the time the regiment was active.

It looks like the poor fellow couldn't find, or afford (!) a Calgary Regiment "sunburst" badge I don't feel so bad now because for the longest time I couldn't eitherr...
