First variation of the 48th Highlanders cap badge

Does any one know if this first variation of the 48th Highlanders cap badge cica 1890's have a swing pin (broach) or regular lugs like WWI-WWII badges have? Or was it made from the factory with both lugs or pin back?

Any help would be appreciated or a picture of the back would be great also.

The badge I have in my collection has factory installed lugs, east and west.
I have seen these badges broached, but if this was done after removing factory installed lugs or not I cannot say.

I have two of these beauties both with a pin backing, I would like to see the other variation. They wore the same badge on their horse haired sporrans as well, they would have needed a stronger way of keeping them on other then a pin... (just a guess) perhaps they realized at a later date lugs were superior

Broach pin fasteners do less damage to the uniform than the lugs. With the expense of uniforms per-1914 it would be an appropriate type of fastener.
Question, was this badge also used as a sporran badge? IIRC, I have seen a sporran with that badge somewhere.

Brought this over from the FB posting. Just a note, the flat lugs are found on many pre-1914 badges. The badge in question may be pre-war or wartime, even into the post war period.

I now have two of the first variation in my collection, both are pin back. I have heard lug variety exist but have yet to see one my self. Not sure if the lugs were a modification some time after.
