Default 51 Highland Division Soltire Insignia

Trying to identify which units the three men on the right of the picture were in. The picture was taken at Stalag VIIIc. My uncle is the L/Cpl second from the right in the back row, my dad said he was in the Black Watch and captured at Anzio (I know that can't be correct). I have checked the Prisoners of War 1939-1945 list and it does not list a L/Cpl A Young BW but does have a L/Cpl A Young Camerons and another one in the Gordons. I have not been able to find any reference to the soltaire badge with the bars above it.ebayscan1a.jpg

Smile Records

While we rely on official records to authenticate something, there are often discrepancies between what was fact and fiction. History is often written by people who were never present and facts get distorted, an opinion only.

Can't add much to the identification problem - but I like your avatar!

Maybe you recognise mine.
