6th City of London & British Asian
Hi have picked up these two badges from same bloke but what do you think? at first I was sceptical but have since grown on me, just looking for clarification as to good or bad! the flashing on the 6th City of London R,gt, doesn,t look nice but old yes, some of the lettering well don,t look nice, what do you think?
The British Asian has nice colouring but never seen one up close so have no reference points to know, looks old? but not really a judgement is it! cheers billy |

Hi Billy,
I can comment on the British African Sqn, King's Colonials. Please look at the photos attached. The red marks indicate the difference between the badge I have (believed to be correct) and the badge you have shown. I believe that they were manufactured in yellow brass for OR's or gilt for officers (although this view is opposed by another forum member). The collection housed in the NAM has the badges in these metals. The major differences in your badge is 1. The trunk should be voided at the tip where it curls back up; 2. The ridge at the front of the ear; 3. The ear lobe; 4. The detail in the vegetation and 5. The loop positions at the rear. Garry |

Good evening Billy.
Not over enthusiastic about The 6th London. Front: O in South Africa is a bit wonky. No spacing between 0 - 0 of 1900 - 02. Poor definition of DIRIGE. Spacing between the letters of LONDON are not equal. Rear: Slider is too high in my opinion, however, that may just be the way some badges were made. Doesn't appear to be much depth in the strike of the centre circlet. However, that doesn't mean it's a wrong 'un, solely my opinion based on comparisons to those I have and those I have seen.
