Claire
I think you may upset a few people on here with that image, wether being coy with your post or naive I would ask for it to be removed or change the title of your post so people can choose wether to look or not.
I'm not trying to be being harsh but can understand the still ill feeling toward that regime and what they had done

Default Bunting

Claire, could you please post it again with a more descriptive title as my curiosity has got the better of me.

It was a typical swastika bunting, my post was not meant as a request to move it but an advice. If you have seen previous threads with this type of memorabilia it does upset some people. I noticed Claire is new to the forum and think there is nothing worse than being on the brunt of someone's anguish.

Default re the bunting

thank you paul, for your advice, yes I understood what you was saying to me, and that you was not requesting for me to remove, but to better describe it in the title for people to open it up or not. as it had the possible effect of upsetting people, I then removed it of my own accord. I would just like to add that since it came into my ownership, it has caused some anguish and curiosity and I am at a crossroads with it. do I destroy it, or do I save it, thus selling it on and letting a part of history live on, as sad as it was. so finely do I resubmit the picture and leave it to people to make there own minds up.

I would just like to further say that this bunting was used to wrap up some british badges that I acquired, which upon looking at them where damaged in some way, so reading into that, it makes my situation with this item even more troublesome.

From what I gather, as I have been deprived of seeing the image in question, the culprit is a Nazi item. I likewise definitely don't agree that your relic, whatever it is, should be destroyed. Like it or not, National Socialism had its place in history, as did Italian and Spanish Fascism, the Red Terror, Genocides, etc, etc, ad nauseam. We are all, without a shadow of a doubt, immensely grateful to all our forbears who fought against such sick ideologies, but the way I see it, being in possession of a relic pertaining to the Nazi era does not signify being an esponent of Nazi policy, but rather a possessor of a piece of wartime history from the other side.

I only had a quick look at the item. But remember it having metal clips ? So perhaps a car pennant rather than bunting ?

Default i,e the bunting

you will all be pleased to know that I have decided not to destroy it, but will rather offer it for sale in due course, as I am rather knew to the art of collecting this sort of thing. I feel that I am not the best person to be the keeper of such an item.

Hello Claire

Just in case you are thinking of selling it on ebay, don't! Items such as this are banned on ebay and if you list it you might get reported and a black mark against your account.
