Default Birmingham Factory Home Guard

Sometimes our collecting interests overlap, for many years I have collected second world war BSA Motorycles and other war products made by "Birmingham Small Arms".

I also collect Home Guard Insignia so when I saw this Home Guard badge at Stoneleigh described as "Small Heath Works Bn" I decided to buy it.

But I'm strugglimg to find any evidence that the BSA factory Home Guard actually wore this number, can anyone help please? Rob.

"Stand Down" by Len Whittaker states under the one line entry for this unit:

37 Warwickshire (Birmingham) Bn (Small Heath) Lt Col HJ Taplin 1 Oct 41

I cannot see that any of the 52 battalions of the Warwickshire Home Guard have BSA in parenthesis after their title. But 31 and 32 Bns (both Birmingham City Transport), 33 Bn (LMS), 47 Bn (24 GPO) and 48 Bn (Birmingham University STC) do have a suffix.

Not much help I'm afraid. Mike

Default BSA

Rob,
That is a fantastic thread about the Birmingham Home Guard, did you see my thread on the BSA badge which I put on here earlier?

I did contact BSA and there was no record of the badge.
