26th Hussars : Silver
Hi All
I am guessing this is fake....... but who is the "SM" on the silver mark?

The seller states:
"A hall marked silver 26th Hussars cap badge complete with two silver lugs. These badges were hall marked a few years ago to make sure they are silver." Is that allowed? Andy |

They aren't actually hallmarked, merely marked with a name and a grade stamp. These are readily available from tool suppliers, especially america where the stamping laws are minimal to say the least.
Hallmarking would have to carry the stamp of the assay office to be legally viable, plus date stamp |
