Good evening Gerard.

If you could possibly get clearer pictures and repost, it will help considerably, but from what I can see, it appears that your badge has copper lugs E/W.

I will try and post pictures of mine, which I consider to be a genuine item, some time tomorrow for comparison, which incidentally has brass lugs N/S.

Regards
Brian

Good morning Gerard.
Apologies for not posting these yesterday, got waylaid with work.

Mine aren't the best quality pictures, but apart from the lugs, there are 2 other points that suggest that your item is not original.
1. The oversized 7.
2. Definition of the Garter motto on the inside.

It's a Glengarry badge, 1874 - 1881, 7th Foot/Royal Fusiliers,(KK 427) who became The Royal Fusiliers (City of London Regiment).

But don't let that stop your brother in law finding badges for you.

Regards
Brian
