House Hold Cavalry Helmet Plate?
Good day folks
Is this a helmet plate? It is clearly modern and only has two lugs so it may be a fake or I may have misidentified it. Third picture shows its size compared with other badges. Also just realised that it is upside down - oops! Any thoughts Thanks James |

I've no doubt someone more knowledgeable will tell you exactly what it is but I can tell that its NOT a Household Cav. helmet plate.

Hi James
I used to have one of these in my collection. Its a repro I think of a Coldstream Guards W.O pagri badge. But according to the section on the Coldstreams in Colonel Hodges book its worn in barracks on certain forms dress. Regards Neil |

I personally question it’s originality.

James
If memory serves me right these oversized Stars may have been used on the boxes which carried the ECM devices on Guard mounts when the PIRA threat was still very real. The Tailors shop used tunic materials to cover the boxes and I think these Stars were attached. Will have a look through my old photos and see if I can find one in use. Regards Simon |

Andy,
More than likely brass but will try and check old photo's and get back to you. Knew Lester Piggot well, he was Signal Platoon and we were Instructors for a while together at the Depot. Simon. |
