Contents of medals box
The things people find in boxes!
Recently given a WW2 cardboard medals box to a Maltese soldier. Unfortunately the accompanying entitlements form is missing as also the ribbons. There is no external name & address label, however the lid has an inked "3" which I take it refers to the quantity of medals enclosed. In fact there are The 1939-45 Star, The Africa Star and the 1939-1945 War Medal, plus one wax paper envelope. What I at first thought could be a dog tag. turned out to actually be a "dog" tag - in fact, 2 of them, evidently stored among the medals for safekeeping. These brass medallions date back to the 50s, when licences to keep dogs as pets was mandatory. They came in a variety of shapes and the KC shape was quite popular. GTB |

Would there be any (unlikely) chance of researching the dog tags in order to find an owners name & address that may identify the medal recipient?

I can identify the recipient by name but that's about all the detail I have.
