Default Cheshire Regiment officers badges

After a spectactularly bad morning I decided to remedy the situation by buying myself a nice badge. A trip to the local badge dealer proved unsuccessful, so in desperation I started scouring Antique shops. After looking at dozens of repros, over-priced county or corps badges and single collars, I found a card with a rather nice looking Cheshire cap badge on, with green enamel behind the acorn (see photo). An officers badge! The rays of the badge appeared diamond cut rather than stamped. Below it was a much smaller version of the same badge. Elsewhere on the same card of badges was an officers OSD and silver gilt collar. A check through a drawer of odd cloth badges, mainly RN, turned up a cloth Cheshire flash too.
Badges bought, hurry home to examine purchases. Careful removal from card shows a "J R GAUNT" and behold, a very clear "S", showing silver. I could tell most of the badges were brooched, but I wasn't going to turn my nose up at them.
It is still out there, it's just harder to find.

Excellent find, the smaller one is the service dress cap badge.
Cheers,
Alex
