Default Sad news re. Andy May

Just heard that Andy May of SA Uniform fame drowned in the Mzinduzi River on the 21st January 2016.

Andy was well known locally for his depictions of South African regimental and Colonial uniforms.

RIP Andy.

The worst possible news Brian, the illustrations you show, alone, here are quite superb.

This is terrible news. I knew Andy personally. At one point he served with the SADF at Fort Klapperkop. Another of his talents was his knowledge of firearms.

RIP Andy. You will be remembered.

Very sorry to hear that. He was a colourful character. I visited him a few times at his home in Maritzburg at the time. A wealth of knowledge of uniforms and accoutrements as well as firearms. He served in the SAEC while at Deputy Curator of Fort Klapperkop IIRC. Later he was a Sergeant in the Natal Mounted Rifles where he and his wife were involved in revamping their regimental museum amongst other things.
