Default CROWN BADGE

This badge has many use's - MOD security, Guard Service Germany, Sovereign Base Area Police Cyprus, Government service(Home office etc) and it has been used in various TV programs to show fictitious army units. It is A/A and made by several makers-Gaunt, Firmin etc.
I hope this helps

I understand that at Firmins this badge is known as the 'catch-all'. If you don't have a specific design of cap badge under government service (broadly interpretted) then they give you one of these !

Hi Ben,

This badge was officially authorised for issue and administered by the British Army. It's original name was 'Crown - Civilian Employees' and first appeared in A/A in the CCN of 1963 under this designation.

By the COSA of 1973 it was recorded as 'Civilian Employees - All Ranks; with vertical shank'.

The CCN CB number was CB 3148 and the later NSN was 8455-99-973-9488.

It is still in use now and at least recorded in UK/SC/2124 of 2009.

Regards

Chris
