Default Visual Project Full Dress Insignia of the British Army RA, RE and Infantry 1881-1890

Following the success of our project on the round forage cap, I hope that forum members will enjoy the new collaboration between Bruce Basset-Powell and I, that will cover Full Dress Insignia of the British Army - RA, RE and Infantry, 1881-1890, in Bruce's free website: http://www.uniformology.com/INSIGNIA-01.html

It will be followed by an appendix showing variations within the time span mentioned.

A cracking site, Toby Purcell pointed this web-site out to me. Outstanding.

We are going to do the Foot Guards at the end, Andy, purely because they did not use a full dress badge after the 1840s, but did use pagri/puggaree badges later on. Unsurprisingly the insignia they used was elegant and attractive.

Thank you all for your generous comments, your approval means a great deal to us. We are undertaking the project for the love of the subject and with the intent of bringing to a worldwide audience, quality images of the insignia wholly free of charge, and without any need to join a special society to gain access.

It is a superb website, congratulations on producing such a beautiful labour of love. The forage cap section fills a big gap as does the officers collar badges .

Thank you both, Bruce is the leading light and I have only been assisting with the two projects mentioned, but all being well we hope to tackle NCO and WO badges of rank for all arms and perhaps eventually cover mess dress as at 1904.

P.S. We could not have completed the forage caps project without the aid of the several forum members who are acknowledged on the concluding page.
