Default Training Reserve Title.

Can anyone confirm this is a WWI Training Reserve title ?

It appears identical to the item in lot 123 of Bonhams auction of August 2004 ( Grace Gibson collection) which is with some other Training Reserve items and I think this is a Training Reserve item and a scarce one.

Was it a common practise to paint rather than embroider such titles during WWI?
