If sold to a foreign buyer, the medals would not be allowed to leave Canada without an export permit and that couldn't happen until a Canadian buyer or institution has been given a chance to purchase them from the new owner at an acceptable price. Jo

I don't understand the fuss. The group has been in a private collection and hasn't been on public display (in wear or otherwise) for decades.
Perhaps the buyer will put the medals on public display somewhere.

Hi
I agree with Phillip. Where was the fuss in 1989 when it left the Family's hands? Upon release from the Military, the medal is the private property of the recipient. "Canada" didn't win it, he did and "Canada" certainly didn't give it to him. He, and by extension, his heirs should be able to do with as they please. Private sale of private property to support an elderly woman. People died for us to have that right and many others. If "Canada" wants it so bad....they should not have let the War Museum be an underbidder. Action not sentiment but ............... regards Darrell
