The 10th Gurkha Rifles had a bewildering number of titles:
1890: 1st Regiment of Burma Infantry 1891: 10th Regiment (1st Burma Battalion) of Madras Infantry 1892: 10th Regiment (1st Burma Rifles) of Madras Infantry 1895: 10th Regiment (1st Burma Gurkha Rifles) of Madras Infantry 1901: 10th Gurkha Rifles 1903: 1st Battalion, 10th Gurkha Rifles 1907: 10th Gurkha Rifles 1948: to the British Army 1949: 10th Princess Mary's Own Gurkha Rifles 1994: 3rd Battalion, Royal Gurkha Rifles 1996: merged with 2nd Battalion, Royal Gurkha Rifles As you see "1st Burma" was official part of their designation until 1901. The badge on your crest shows the combination of a horizontal kukri with a bugle, unique to the 10th GR. But as far as I know that was in use since 1907. On the other hand I have no doubt that in the regiment the Burma background was still cherished after 1901.
