It is a shame that you don't know how long you have had it, I would have thought perhaps three decades or so, I have already had a look at the other thread, read all the comments, as well as actually posting in it myself, I do think Andy Plewa is correct, someone has indeed "been at it"

And I did serve in the Bays over 70 years ago...
and no, I don't know how long I've had it........
and I did collect my first badges before WW2.
Have a look at the other thread on the Cavalry,Yeomanry , RAC slot..
And see other comments from owners of the badge.
I have my own opinion of them but I'd like others, who have actually got or handled them to give their opinions.
PS. The first thread on this type badge was 2013 in the cavalry section.
